About 'Doll Clothes of Yore'

“History is a story written by the finger of God.” – C.S. Lewis

Hello! Welcome to ‘Doll Clothes of Yore’! Please allow me to introduce myself: my name is Emily Marsh, and I’m the founder of ‘Doll Clothes of Yore’.

Here’s a little bit of my background. I’m a Virginia Homeschool Alumni with a passion for history – specifically historical fashion. I’ve been sewing since I was five years old, and in 2006 at the age of 14 I started selling my doll clothing at small-town craft fairs and farmer’s markets. This endeavor has quickly grown into what you now know as ‘Doll Clothes of Yore’.

I work hard to create patterns and designs that are unique, historically accurate and durable for hours of play. I also take as much inspiration as possible from portraits or photographs of real people from time gone by.

My mission is to pass along my love for history to the next generation. I believe that an understanding of the mistakes that our forefathers have made will prevent us from making those same blunders. I also believe that if children can ‘picture’ history in their minds it will help them to more fully understand and remember what they learn. I try to ‘make history come alive’ by naming my designs after real historical people, places or things. I’ve also given a great deal of historical fashion information about each piece.

Thank you so much for visiting my site, and I hope that what you find here is just as enjoyable to you as it is to me! Please, if you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to contact me!

God bless,

Emily Marsh
