| In 1929 the stock market fell, and that caused a change in clothing. Dresses became shorter and more fitting. Many people used the material on chicken feed sacks, because they were made from calico. During this time and World War II, frugality was needed. During the 'Roaring 20's', dresses were designed with no discernable waist in order to make women look as thin and flat as possible. In the 1930's, however, waist lines came back in style as did pleated skirts. | |||||||
