| The Regency Era is also known as the Napoleonic era, named after Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France. Fashion during this time gave women relief from the restricting stays, or corset of the Colonial Period. The waistline moved very high, called an Empire Waist. The movie 'Pride and Prejudice' features costuming from this time period. Day Dresses would have been worn for every day occasions. Ball Dresses would have been worn at a English Country Dance, otherwise known as a ball.
